Creative Agency Services for China

Creative & Content Built For Chinese Audiences

At Red Ant Asia, we help luxury and lifestyle brands develop creative concepts, communication platforms and social media campaign ideas that help them win over Chinese audiences. Every idea, line of copy and edit starts with a deep understanding of the relevant target segments and, most importantly, where their values and interests intersect with your brand tenets.

As an experienced creative agency supporting European and US brands in their efforts to master the Chinese market, our work covers everything from campaign concept development, graphic design and Chinese copywriting to local photo and video production, the adaptation of existing global assets, the localisation of influencer campaigns and, of course, the use of AI where appropriate.

Creative Processes Grounded in Local Audience Insights

Our insights-led approach is reflected in the work we deliver and the results demonstrated in our case studies. Here are two campaign examples that show what our strategic process delivers in practice:
‍
‍Réalisation Par

‍
We have partnered with cult fashion label Réalisation Par for over five years, helping the brand localise its iconic IT girl campaign for the Chinese market. The challenge was clear: a global campaign concept that worked well across Instagram and other Western social media platforms needed to be repositioned to deliver the intended impact within China’s far more competitive and fragmented social media ecosystem.

We advised Réalisation Par on selecting a relevant target audience and identifying the messaging most likely to resonate: a new generation of Chinese women eager to discover international brands, grounded in the then-trending “Réal” attitude that was gaining popularity in China.

We helped launch the campaign across Xiaohongshu (more about our Xiaohongshu Marketing Services) and developed the campaign tagline “GET RÉAL 穿个开心” (roughly, “wear it and be happy”). In doing so, we contributed to the brand’s commercial success in China, including multiple dress sell-outs and a first Shanghai pop-up that sold out within a week.

amika x Voguing Shanghai

To support the launch of cruelty-free haircare brand amika on Tmall Global, we partnered with Voguing Shanghai, a local underground dance community. We worked with voguing dancers to express the brand’s playful, diverse and professional spirit in a way that felt like a natural fit for a brand known for celebrating individuality and diversity.
Backed by a creator programme, the launch helped propel amika to second place in imported hair mask sales during Tmall’s important “618” shopping festival.

Our Creative Production Services

As a creative agency in Shanghai, we provide a end-to-end creative services, spanning static image creation, video and content.

Chinese Copywriting for Marketing Campaigns and Social

Our Shanghai based copywriters have in-depth experiences in capturing the essence of a global premium brand and transforming it into a language that connects with local Chinese consumers. We can support everything from writing product and campaign copy, platform captions, long-form Xiaohongshu notes, video scripts and voiceover, and the briefing documents for creators.

Creative Concepts and Campaign Ideation

We develop the idea and carry it through to execution. A campaign line and visual territory built for Chinese audiences from the start, tested against what competitors already own. Where a brand platform exists, we work out which parts hold in China and which do not. For Creed we turned the logo into land art on a frozen northern plateau, drawn in snow by artist Simon Beck. Sales of Silver Mountain Water rose 40% year on year.

Adapting Global Assets without Breaking the Brand

Luxury brands in particular are wary of diluting their brand essence and seek to maintain a consistent global image. At the same time, the need to adapt assets for a market as sizeable and important as China is widely recognised.

To bridge the gap between these two priorities, we start by auditing your existing assets and assessing how well they are likely to resonate with local Chinese audiences. We also evaluate their suitability for China’s social media platforms and flag any potential issues. Based on those findings, we can then support the adaptation of global assets for use in China.

Campaign Assets, Photography & Video Production

We develop concepts, cast talent, direct shoots and deliver content in China for use across social media and advertising. Each asset is tailored to the platform it is intended for.

For Creed, we conceptualised and produced the world’s first scented art toy in partnership with Chinese IP ROBBiART, including the 3D film that introduced it. The campaign helped contribute to 70% year-on-year growth in Tmall sales.

How We Use AI in Creative Production

As a creative agency, we recognise both the potential and the risks associated with using AI in creative production. Whilst AI can be a powerful tool for scaling high-quality creative output, when used without appropriate human oversight, it can also produce work that is unsuitable and may jeopardise your brand’s reputation. As such, our approach to using AI in creative production is:

We Leverage AI Where It Helps Us Scale

We use AI in creative production for work such as social media and advertising creatives where it genuinely helps us produce high-quality assets at scale. One of the key benefits is that AI can introduce greater variety where needed, whilst maintaining a recognisable brand style that feels distinctive and consistent.

How We Use AI

We consider AI a tool in our toolkit, much like an accountant uses Excel. Experienced creative directors and strategists direct every piece of work, maintain full oversight and remain accountable for both the creative process and the quality of the final deliverables. They decide what gets made, for which audience and why. They also assess which variants are most likely to resonate with Chinese audiences and step in whenever the AI deviates from the intended direction.

One Tool in Our Toolkit

AI is one part of our wider creative process rather than a substitute for human judgement. We use it to produce high-quality deliverables at scale and help our partners benefit from the advantages it can offer, including greater efficiency, time savings and a broader range of creative assets.
